What affects the cost?
Material & Range
Different materials and product ranges have different costs, reflecting their features and finish. With our Bespoke Timber supplier being the most expensive through to our PVCu range being the cheapest.
Size & Opening options
Larger openings, special shapes and different opening styles can affect the overall cost. This is especially true when the frame is so heavy that lifting equipment is required.
Glazing Option
No surprise here - Double glazing is cheaper than triple glazing. Consider if the increase in thermal performance is a priority for you.
Glazing Bars
A less obvious culprit - adding glazing bars can prove very expensive, especially for the more premium brands where they are fully integral in the window/door.
Glazing Finishes
Some of our brands offer special glazing features e.g. Velfac offer solar and sound glazing, these come at an additional cost though.
Special Colours
All of the brands you come across will have a standard colour range, stick to these if you want to prioritise cost.
Upgraded Hardware
Some of our brands offer upgrade options for their products, with Origin being especially good at this, however, these upgrade options are going to increase the overall price.
Installation requirements
Every property is different, at Technical Survey we figure out if any scaffolding or lifting equipment or waste removal is required. These items add substantial cost. Consider organising the scaffolding yourself or splitting a large window into two to avoid lifting equipment.
